Felonious Military

At a military hearing tomorrow, Cpl. Dustin Berg of the Indiana National Guard will stand to charges of murder, false swearing and wearing an unauthorized award. This stems from an incident from when Cpl. Berg was on patrol with an Iraqi police officer when he shot and killed him, shot himself, then received a Purple Heart for the occasion.
Thursday's Article 32 hearing, which is similar to a grand jury proceeding, will be run by an investigative officer. The officer's recommendation likely won't be issued the same day as the hearing, Sinclair said.
The final decision will rest with Maj. Gen. Terry Tucker, commander of Fort Knox and the U.S. Army Armor Center.
